Match the certificate to the physical lot
Confirm supplier legal name, manufacturing site where relevant, product code, INCI, lot number, manufacture or retest date, quantity and container count. Compare them with the label and purchase order. A COA issued for a parent lot may not describe a repacked sub-lot unless traceability is documented. Reject certificates that can be reused across shipments because they carry no lot-specific identifier.
Read identity before purity
The certificate should show how identity was established: mass spectrometry, retention-time comparison, amino-acid analysis or another justified method. HPLC area purity alone cannot identify a peptide. Similar INCI names and short sequences are easy to confuse in purchasing systems.
