A peptide sheet mask is not simply a serum poured onto fabric. The substrate removes part of the liquid phase, the pouch creates a different oxygen and microbial environment, and fill-weight variation changes the delivered dose. In scale-up work, the most common failure is a pilot serum that looks stable in a beaker but loses viscosity, fragrance balance or peptide recovery after contact with the sheet. A useful private-label brief therefore controls the serum, substrate and pouch as one system.

Specify the peptide on an active basis

Lock the commercial product code, INCI, carrier, preservative and assayed peptide content. A 1% addition of a diluted stock is not 1% peptide. For palmitoyl peptide blends or Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 solutions, calculate the amount delivered per filled pouch and record any glycerin, glycol, salts and preservatives brought in by the stock. This prevents an OEM from changing to a cheaper same-INCI blend whose active basis and formula behavior are different.

Screen the sheet before finalizing serum viscosity

Nonwoven cellulose, cupra, cotton and bio-cellulose differ in liquid uptake, capillary release and adsorption. Compare dry sheet weight, dimensions, uptake at a fixed time, retained liquid after hanging and liquid expressed under a repeatable load. Peptides may adsorb to fibers or remain in liquid trapped in the pouch; a clear supernatant does not prove uniform delivery. Run analytical recovery on the assembled mask when the peptide is claim-critical.

Set fill weight from coverage, not appearance

Determine the minimum serum mass that fully wets the sheet after transport and storage, then set a filling tolerance. Too little liquid creates dry edges; excessive fill raises cost, leakage and preservative demand without guaranteeing a higher skin dose. Check pouch-to-pouch weight, sheet placement and residual liquid. A production line can meet total batch yield while individual sachets remain underfilled.

Build preservation for the final wet pack

The sheet adds surface area and can carry bioburden. Supplier preservatives in peptide stocks are diluted and must not be counted as a complete system. Establish raw-material limits, hygienic sheet handling, bulk hold time and sealing controls, then perform a suitable preservative efficacy assessment on the finished mask in its pouch. Do not describe a cosmetic sheet mask as sterile unless it is made and validated as such.

Control pH, ions and feel after assembly

Measure pH and viscosity before filling and in expressed serum after defined contact with the substrate. Buffers and salts in peptide solutions can thin electrolyte-sensitive polymers; cellulose finishes may also shift wetting or odor. A pH that suits the headline peptide still has to suit the preservative, polymer and every supporting active. Avoid correcting drift with repeated acid/base additions late in the batch.

Qualify the pouch and seal

Test laminate compatibility, water-vapor loss, oxygen exposure, print migration, seal strength, burst resistance and leakage after transit simulation. Inspect the seal area for serum contamination because wet seals may pass an initial visual check and leak later. Notches must open cleanly without creating sharp film fragments. High-barrier packaging is only useful when the seal process is controlled.

Use a stability matrix that reflects use

Store finished pouches flat and upright at real-time and justified accelerated conditions. Include freeze-thaw or transport cycling where relevant. Track fill mass, leakage, swelling, color, odor, pH, microbiology, sheet integrity and peptide marker where feasible. Open aged samples and assess unfolding, adhesion and serum distribution; unopened appearance alone misses practical failures.

Keep cosmetic claims tied to finished-product evidence

Ingredient studies do not establish that a 15-minute mask delivers the same result. Use cosmetic appearance, moisturization and conditioning language supported by the marketed formula. Avoid wound-healing, tissue-repair or injectable comparisons. If the mask claims an immediate hydration result, define the method, comparator, time point and population before artwork approval.

What an OEM quotation should separate

Ask for peptide and sheet specifications, bulk minimum, pouch minimum, printing plates, fill weight, overage, testing, samples and component storage. Clarify ownership of unused printed film and specialty peptide stock. The lowest unit price can hide a large packaging commitment or an unverified replacement of the peptide grade.
