Alcohol is not automatically incompatible with cosmetic peptides, and it is not automatically useful. State which alcohol and why it is present
Separate ethanol or Alcohol Denat. from fatty alcohols such as cetyl alcohol and from glycols used as humectants. A claim that the formula is alcohol-free needs an agreed definition; a cream containing cetearyl alcohol is not equivalent to an ethanol serum.
Review the peptide commercial grade
Request identity, assay, counterion, carrier, pH, preservative and supported solvent range. A water-glycerin peptide stock may cloud when added to a high-ethanol phase. Palmitoylated blends can contain solubilizers that respond differently. Calculate active peptide independently from the stock-solution percentage.
Avoid local solvent shock during addition
Prepare the aqueous base, then add ethanol and peptide in a validated order with controlled mixing. Pouring concentrated ethanol directly onto peptide stock can create a transient environment unlike the final formula and cause haze or precipitation. Keep claims and tolerability proportionate
Fast drying is measurable; deeper peptide penetration is not established simply because ethanol is present. Assess sting, dryness and intended frequency on the complete product.
